The Goods and Services Tax (GST) has replaced the previous tax structure which was complex and the caused the confusion and corruption. The thought of GST was envisioned without precedent for 1999. On 8 August 2016, the Constitutional Amendment Bill for take-off of GST was passed by the Parliament.
The GST is divided into two parts. The first one is called with the State Goods and the second one is Services Tax (SGST) and Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST)
Both SGST and CGST are levied on the taxable value of a transaction. All goods and services can come under the GST and there is hardly anything which does not come under the GST. The Central excise duty, additional excise duty, services tax, State VAT entertainment tax are combined by the GST bill. GST is affecting all of us all.
